Branderup® School Saddle
Branderup® School Saddle

Complete connection between horse and rider For school riding, Bent Branderup designed a saddle that visually and functionally meets the requirements of academic horsemanship. Why a school saddle? Experience and good craftsmanship contribute to the training of body and mind; the right tools provide the basis for unhindered development. A saddle should fit the horse and rider and at the same time allow any kind of movement to be felt, both from horse to rider and from rider to horse. The school saddle has a leather tree with head and cantle irons, large saddle cushions and an adjustable seat. The only difference to the training saddle are the galleries. Tree and pillow variation are same. The leg layer is made of soft, supple leather. The gullet iron can be exchanged and/or individually formed (cold mechanical). The saddle tree is available in different versions: for flat or higher withers (depending on the horse)with more or less waist (depending on the rider and possibly also the horse)The saddle pads can be selected for horses with higher withers, for example, with more volume in the front area. The adjustable seat The "slide pocket" in the upper seat area can be accessed by loosening the two front screws and then lifting the seat. This gives you two filling slots through which you can push wool to shape the seat according to your current needs. (This can be done by a saddler or by the skilled rider himself, with the skill being less about filling the seat and more about the screws.) It's about balance and providing the best possible help. Depending on body type, extent of movement, individual preferences and instinct as well as level of training, there are a variety of possibilities and requirements...everything relates to the horse and rider. Service The saddle assembly is designed for a quick/cost-effective and versatile service where you can try out a lot "shortly". To ensure the optimal fit, each saddle is individually manufactured after various tests and, similar to the training pad and the training saddle, can be manually adjusted to the shape of the horse's back and the rider's natural hip and pelvic position. Its structure makes it possible to vary the center of gravity at any time, to clearly feel the direction of the swing from the hindquarters and to guide it precisely through the torso and shoulders to the hand. The agony of choice: Leather color for seat and base leather (black, dark brown, red brown, natural)Color of the straps (black or dark brown)Fitting color (silver or brass)Type of fittings (flower screw or screw with ring)Seam color (black, dark brown, cream or white) Attention: The school saddle is a tool for training riders and horses in academic horsemanship! It has a flexible leather tree and a head and cantle iron and is suitable for use with stirrups. However, we would like to point out that it is designed for work in an academic sense! Fit: The school saddle is very variable in its fit on the horse. We would be happy to answer your questions. We expressly and exclusively want satisfied customers.

Riding a Bent Branderup® pad or saddle Riding a Bent Branderup® pad or saddle can feel like a curse or a blessing!

The most important thing here is correct seat filling that is individually adapted to the hips and pelvis. You can do the upholstery yourself using the included upholstery wool. It is also rare, but possible, for the cushion filling to not fit the horse. In this case, we strongly recommend contacting one of our saddler partners who can correct the filling for you.

Below we would like to give you a few suggestions and tips on how to properly and comfortably upholster the seat filling in order to get a nice riding experience.

This is how you find the optimal wool filling for the balance of your pelvis

On the School Saddle, the opening for padding the seat is located underneath the seat. To access this, the screws on the front gallery must be opened. The seat can then be raised and wool inserted to give your hip joint the freedom of movement it needs.

The balance of the pelvis is essential for a comfortable sitting experience and clear communication with the horse. A balanced pelvis also allows the upper body and legs to follow the movement of the hips without additional tension and not to interfere with them.

If the pelvis is not positioned correctly, compensatory tensions arise that affect the suppleness of horse and rider. This often manifests itself as pain while riding.

With the help of the right cushion filling, the pelvis comes into balance so that the knees and thighs can find the correct position without strain.
